  • VraySun Distance Question

I'm busy rendering at the moment but I thought I'd pose this question:

Does sun distance to target make a difference?

Someone just mentioned that the closer the sun is to a target the brighter it seems and further way the darker it is.

This really didn't make sense, cause technically the sun in real life is a fixed distance from a set location. I never thought to experiment with this. Can anyone confirm this vraysun behavior???

Distance doesn't make a difference, only matters it's angle of incidence.

V-Ray calculates the sun as though it is infinitely far away from the scene and only the direction of its target matters, not the actual distance.

      Best regards,

I can pretty much gaurantee that they moved their sun closer to the target by moving it in the top view - making the angle its pointing nearer to straight down, and brighter due to that.

Well - I didn't think so either but someone mentioned it to me in the middle of a render and I wasn't able to confirm this.
