if you use gamma in max, and use the RAM player to load the frames to safe it as .avi, you will lose the gamma. When you use old reliable videopost instead, it works fine.
And also, when rendering on systems that have a Quadro card (or similar I guess), those cards can automatically add gamma, which might double the gamma, and thus making everything washed out and too light.
