  • Flat material

I'm in the progress of over complicating a very simple issue... just need to produce a 'flat' coloured material with no shading or specular effect. I was thinking of using VrayLight material, but it should recieve shadows, matte is no good either since i need to apply a colour.. ink and paint doesnt seem to work well with Vray...

What simple solution have I overlooked?

do a vray override, and then render out diffuse renderelement?

edit: oops, missed that you WANT it to receive shadows. How about diffuse element with shadow element comped in?

You could try VRayMtl material with roughness set to 1.0; it will produce flat shading that will react to shadows but I don't know how useful this will be for you.

Thanks guys - I was actually just playing with the 'rough' setting... but then I managed to get exactly ehat I wanted by just combining diffuse colour element and shadow matte element with a bit of AE on top... beautiful
