cause that s what made my jaw drop in the posted example...
    You mean animated topology changes?
They of course conform to the surface you're planting on, to have them follow the mesh when animated, I'd have to script an attachment controller, and recover barycentric coordinates for the face, so it's doable.

well that would be even better!
but i meant if after the scatering the surface was to be deformed would the scattered objects "follow" the surface.

        Same Thing.
Whether the planted surface changes once, or many times, after planting, it's pretty similar, from a scripting PoV.
Why that should happen, though, escapes me.
Maybe because I'm thinking of trees.
Could you give me an example of a production workflow that needs that particular behavior?

i m thinking of trees too, but it aplyes the same to some scatterd random facade elements...all this tend to have last minute changes, wich makes the re-sacttering process a boring task. U know architects... something like the "bad" pixel here:

I would vote for good real 3d athmospheric effects like cloulds with shadows, glow, ....

If you look to paintings, these kind of athmosperic elements allways are included... It is what still is missing and that would boost the feeling of our renderings most i think..

something like vue sky inside of max...

              jaaaaaaaaa yeeeeeees

Guys time to level to the ground and stop flying in the sky

Its completely unrealistic to wish for things like this, from some one who will write the plugin for free.
I would say, some form of fake reflection blur would be great. One that works with vray frame buffer, and motion blur and etc...

hmmmm, before we get 100 of posts, time for a bit of summarize:

idea thats i have seen and from what i think can be made are:
                  - atmospherics (glare/glow)
                  - VFB additions (hue/saturation/contrast, etc, maybe layers)
                  - manager tool for material/lights/etc
                  - additions to material (fast gloss).

Most of these above require some knowledge. for example the atmospherics plugins will require some methods for generating glare.
So, i would like to see a bit more then only the idea's. for example do some research and try to find some papers that explain things that could help the developer allot.

apart from clouds (geez I wish I could get dreamscape to work with vray well) one thing that might be useful is a f-edge like tool on and off. Or perhaps render histories with an a/b interface like render post.

Hm. Found Dreamscape to work quite okay with VRay. Regarding F-Edge, just stick a VRayEdgesTex into the Bumpslot and you basically got F-Edge ? And there is render-history in the VFB already. not with splicing tho.

Camera extras, exposure, iso, dof ...

Something I would like to see is a simple plugin to load XRef'ed objects directly into a scene with support for AutoGrid.
Like how adding VRayProxies from the Create panel works, except for XRef'ed objects.
