  • Change camera ratio without zooming

    I've got 640x720, because I need 2 images at a time on a 720 HD resolution.

Now I need to change the camera to a full 1280x720 for one part of the animation, but I need to keep the same exact camera. When I change that the top gets cropped off instead of the image just getting bigger.

I'm sure this is simple, but how do you do that???

(i searched for camera ratio width on a few forums, but with no luck, so be nice. If it's somewhere out there and just point me to the right place. I know I've seen the answer somewhere at one time or another, but I couldn't find it and I'm in a pinch)

Perhaps the overscan script can help at http://scripts.breidt.net/
    www.dpict3d.com - "That's a very nice rendering, Dave. I think you've improved a great deal." - HAL9000... At least I have one fan.

Thanks. That worked perfectly from what I can tell.

For doing just width the calculation is actually pretty simple once you know what it is. This tool is great for this process though.

If only I would have searched for overscan, I bet I would have found it. That always seems like half the battle..knowing what word to search for.

Thank you very much. It's nice to get a working answer in the very first reply. This will make my animation look much better since there won't be any shift in the product I'm looking at now.

I couldn't get that script to work with Vray Physical cameras - just wondering if it's just me: does it work with them for you guys?

        Thanks,

I haven't used it much. Can you create a regular camera from the vray camera?
If so that could be a workaround. Create a regular cam from the vray cam, run the script on that cam, then copy the setting it changes (should be just in the FOV and focal length) to the physical Cam.

I'm not sure if that works though because I haven't really used the physical cam yet.

use a regular max camera for the script, if you havea Vray Camera just make it a perspective view and then create camera from view, the FOV and such will get picked up. Run the script and then use Lele's script to convert the max camera to a Vray camera.

                Good idea - thanks.

If you use LeLe's "copy camera parameters" script before you do that you should also be able to quickly reset everything for exposure etc.
