  • Render Pull Down Menu - Max 2009

In previous versions of Max I've been able to select region or crop from the pull down menu (blue arrow), select the region area in the viewport then render in the vray frame buffer.

In Max 2009 this pull down menu is gone. So I have to open the rendered frame window (red arrow) in max, click the edit region button, minimize the rendered frame window then hit F9 to render in the vrayframe buffer.

Has anyone found a way to get the pull down menu back or avoid opening the rendered frame window?

I like the saying "If it's not broke, don't fix it." Obviously, the autodesk programers haven't heard that one yet.

Autodesk are more like "If it's broke, don't fix it".
The moving of the render view drop down annoys me too.

I'm frustrated in general because I just installed 2008 last October. Now before a year has passed they come out with a new version with a few new features that are aimed primarily at MR users. I feel like my subscription service is a ball and chain. I think this is my last year paying for the subsription. I might be using max 2009 well into 2009 instead of installing 2010 this September and 2011 when they roll it out next summer

The new region GUI is good for MR/Scanline but is a pain for the rest of us.
As far as I can tell the GUI is controlled by the VFB_methods.ms script in \stdplugs\stdscripts\.

Maybe someone feels up to trying to create VRay friendly version based on this?

well well autodesk the business tyrant ... who is running the business
                department ... shoot him down!

For some good reason I am sticking to max8.0 till now ... getting more
and more angry at autodesk turning a good software into a business
                strategy.

                Scripter help!
