  • new to render elements...

I never get too deep into render elements and I think it's high time to start using it a bit more.
I'm a bit lost in all those vray elements. Which ones I should use to make good comp in Photoshop? For example there is VrayGloballilumination but also RawGlobalIlluminaton. Which one I should use?

It depends on what you want to do with the elements afterwards... e.g. change lighting, or change object colors, reflections strength etc?

You might try starting with the basic elements as apposed to the "Raw" ones. Later moving on to Raw will make more sense if you find a need for more control. sometimes allot of them are overkill and that's when you might find that certain ones like ExtraTex and MtlSelect come in handy. Considering all the other things you may need to do in Photoshop or whichever flavor of compositing you may need then it's usually best to keep the render passes as few as possible. I'll usually start with a bunch and shuffle them around then try to work out reasons that I won't need certain ones while working on other render optimizations. In a pipeline that relies heavily on compositing render pass simplification/ organization can be considered just as important as render time optimization.

I found following the example by in this thread very useful when trying to understand what the different elements and blending modes do.
