I use Archicad without any issues and have done so for years for architectural projects.
The issue is entirely down to the user in my opinion and what you are used to.
the only issue i've has was editing an archicad model in max which was a change that was urgent for a client. the result was a coplanar face. Other than that, there are issues to overcome and methods to learn just like any other method.
hard edges on CAD models can be bevelled in the same way so even that isnt an issue for me. I also find the old 'excessive faces' issue other people have told me to be a complete myth and my archicad models generally render out cleaner and more efficiently than most people who would tell me otherwise.
Stick to what you know, there isnt a "better" method for architectural work but i prefer Archicad personally and also feel that i have a closer connection with my architectural background by sticking to this method. It also integrates drawings with the model better rather than having 2 versions requiring the max version to be constantly changed to look the same as the CAD (or visa versa)
