    Hi,

i got a job where i have to do lobby for a bank.
the architect want to show the effect of using led light with changing moods (colors)

what is the best way to render this kind of light in v-ray, and could i found any IES files for
    architectural led lights ?

    here are some examples photography

You wouldn't use IES for something like that. Just create a tube, assign a VrayLightMtl, and assign a color, or color gradient. Adjust muliplier so tube casts correct amount of light. Add glow in post.

Not your application, but this site http://www.louispoulsen.com/en-us/Pr...round/Dex.aspx has some LED IES files I've used the "DEX" ies file before. Worked fine with the vrayies lights, too.

i did a similar job recently where a nightclub was lit only with vraylightmtl and used a colour gradient (actually i think i used a colour falloff and it looked fine). The entire club was lit with recessed lighting and backlit perspex panels and there was a wall of self illuminated domes that would flash on-off in a certain pattern. Wish i had to time to animate it

With no other lights in the scene i had to fake things a bit and increase the colour mapping multipliers to get a resonable amount of light in the scene - it also seemed to make the images less grainy to do this. Oh yeah i had to crank up my material subdivisions on all materials that were reflecting the light.

be prepared to have to use higher settings than normal is all im saying...

as for IES, i wouldnt even attempt it unless you are getting really close to where teh LED's are located?

thanks for all your answers, they brought some light into my question.

i will have to deal with 3 different type of lighting, spots and halogen for the base light and led lights for indirect and line light, so i thinks of using IES for the base and vraylight material for the led.
