  • Finding Missing textures in the scene...

Sort of not a specific v-ray question, but...

When I get the Missing textures box while opening a file, is there a easy way to locate the texture in the material editor? With complex scenes it can be a bit difficult to know all the places where a missing texture is used...

    Thanks from Chris...

I usually open the material editor, list all the materials in the scene with Root only checked off and browse through the materials to see if I can find the missing textures.
I've had the same problem many times and never found a good solution either.
Searching through the Asset tracker doesn't work either.

This nice script from moondoggy will search any specified path recursive to find and reassign missing textures:

asset tracker make missing file texture more transperant than others. Im allways use asset tracker, usefull for all the situation, and if u know the path to the texture that missing, u can fill the path manualy..

also try relink bitmap script - verry usefull tool..
        Best regards,
        Andrian

There's also the built in Bitmap/Photometric Paths Utility. Which has a button to find missing maps.

Relink-Bitmaps is super easy to use.

-If you know the textures exist and don't really care what objects they're applied to, just hit browse and select where the textures are (recurvsive folders allowed) and hit "Relink"
-If you need to know exactly what objects have missing textures, run the script, put it on a toolbar, and hit "Interactive Mode", which will then list in the listbox all the missing textures and with a left-click it will select the object in the scene with the missing texture allowing you to get the material for that object. Double-clicking will isolate the object.
