It controls the distribution of samples according to the brightness of the map. If the Adaptiveness is 0.0, then the light sampled regularly, regardless of the brightness of the texture. If Adaptiveness is 1.0, then the samples are distributed according to the brightness of the map. The default value is 1.0 (full adaptation) and this is normally ok, except in cases where the bright portions of the light are blocked out by some object casting a shadow. In that case, reducing the Adaptiveness will help to trace more samples in the other regions of the light and reduce the noise in the shadow area.
