  • New SP2 Render elements. Some question.

    HI,

i'm trying to use this new render elements, but the VRay_illuminance Pass it's difficult to read. There are 2 way. B/W and Blue and Red. With B/W i must use a display scale to set the correct brightness. In the false color, Red (255,0,0) in set by lux max and Blue(0,0,255) the lux min. It's correct?

And I remember that in some old post, Vlado talks about some helper to determine the illuminance in a precise point. Where is this helper?Becouse, without any scale, the VRay_illuminance is just a beautifull Red/blu render

    Thank's

    Hi,

always me . There is a precise reason why in the VRay_illuminance exists only a linear scale and not the logarithmic (as in 3ds max)?

    Thank's

If you use the linear scale, then you can at any time right-click on the render element in the V-Ray VFB to read the exact values (in whatever units you have selected, e.g. lx, klx or mlx). The false colors mode exists only to show you in a readable way places in the scene where the illuminance is within a certain allowable range (for example, if you need to verify that all desks in a room receive between 300 and 500 lx).

      Best regards,
      Vlado

        Hi Vlado,

thank's for your answer. But, only suggestion, can you put a simple ramp scale (as in 3ds Max) ? In this mode, we can read the color much faster and with more precision.

        Thank's

Hmm, can you? It is just as much guesswork, in my opinion. I can add an image there, but there will again be the case of "hm, that's yellowish, so it should be about X lx..." With the linear scale on the other hand, you can with just one right-click get the exact value... it doesn't get much faster and more precise than that.

          Best regards,
          Vlado

            Hi

yes Vlado, but, if i want to print this render and show this image to my clients? Or print for some presentation. I can't right click for know the exact value. A scale toolbar is usefull. But this is only my personal opinion.

            Bye

              Ehhh... Autodesk is very fast...

Autodesk buys Square1. One of their product is ECOTEC

Some screenshot. See the scale toolbar.

Yes? It says the lighting calculations were done with the Radiance program. I see your point about the print though, so we'll see.

                Best regards,
