  • waterfall with max 2009 and vray

I have a question for anyone who is so inclined to listen. Ive currently come across having to do a water feature in a rendering such that its a waterfall or waterwall, where the water is pouring out of a slot and flowing down a slanted wall and in some parts free falling. Im currently trying to figure out how to create this i thought about trying simcloth but i figured that might not be a good solution, another one is now that i have max 2009 design i have access to particles i believe which i hadn't had due to using viz the past 6 years. I guess im wondering if i was to use particles how do you create the right effect since i always run into coplanar issues with transparent materials if there are no thickness... or am i making this more complicated than it has to be ? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Kind Regards

      Do you have combustion?

The particles in there are ok enough - create a few setups of particles flowing like water, render out the sequence, and use it as an animated texture for the diffuse/bump/opacity etc. I'm using that method in a job right now and it looks better than any way we've done before (max 3d particles, realflow)

        Prey,

Go to my site and download my AU bathroom scene.

        www.dwayne-ellis.com

Take a look at how i did the water for the basin...the map i made may work out for you directly...if not...i think i talk about it in the handout...or just post back here if you need more info!
