  • material for glas balustrade

hi, i want to make a glas material which shows the effect, that the glas is darker on the cross section, like on the photo below.
also added my glassettings and a rendering with my glasmaterial.

Fog would start to bring that out, but that photo reference has the difference because of the cut of the glass - it's basically a different material. Make a copy of your glass material, make the refraction glossy, and apply it as a multi-sub onto that part of the glass.

    Also add some fog...

play with the fog parameters using 0.005 and greenish/yellow tint
create a vray mat with black color in diffuse
white in reflection and check the fresnel option
white in refraction slot but u could use something like 245 too
and in fog something like RGB respectively 181 255 219 with a value of 0.005
and active affect alpha and affec shadows

use mm for system units and meter as display units
u should get what u want
      hope it helps

thanks for your replies. tested both suggestions, the renderings are below.
        1. one is pengo`s glassmaterial. looks quite real, also played around with fog before but was always unsatisfied as i used much to high values in the multiplier. with the suggested 0,005 i got bright glass on the cross section, with 0,05 i got the result below.

the suggestion of cubiclegangster works also fine and gives the advantage of having total control over the look of the cross section glass.

          HI
Use the exit colour for the glass, you will achieve more realistic glass this way.
