  • many models, many textures, 1 Proxy?

    Hi

Is it possible to select many object with independant textures on them and make one proxy without loose all the textures? I am playing with onyx trees and when I want to turn to proxy some 5 milions trees with 60 object on them, the only way I found is to attach list each object and apply a Multi/Sub obj mtl on it. It's a long process siince it's eating all my RAM i must attach only 3 or 4 of them at the time.

    - If I select to export to 1 file, there is 1 texture for all the model.
    - it's seem I can't proxy a group
    - If I select Multiple files, it's create 60 proxy and I must import them one by one

    what is the best solution?

    thanks

    Hi

Doing it that way is pointless and not using proxys as you should, The way to use proxys is to have your one tree type, collapse down to one mesh, then export that mesh as your proxy then copy over your scene as an instance.. repeat for the other tree's.. this way vray only references one tree type per x amount of tree types. doing it your way will not help you and will only improve viewport speed if turned to points or boxes.

yeah I know I mush have one mesh but when I went to collapse my system runned out of memory so i had to attach them one by one, very annoying.

      I find a way
-open the onyx in a new max
      -get all scene mtl
-select by Mtl, add edit poly modifier and assign a Mtl ID for each texture group
-put all mtl in a new Multi Sub Object mtl and apply it
      -collapse to VrayMesh
