  • animation (prepass) question

if I render the GI anim. prepass for charakter animation from 0-100 I have 100 GI files
for the render then how do Vray interpolate frame 0 and 100?

is it better/common to render GI prepass from -2 to 102 to have overlapping ?

it doesn't work like that. Vray will only interpolate nearest frames. I.e. by default it will interpolate 2 frames. I think if you set it to like 5-7 frames it will be more then enough.

so talked to vlado about this. The default interpolation for irradience map for animations works in the regard of, a symmetrical interpolation. Which means it will look at nth number of frames prior the current frame and that same number of frames ahead of current frame. So by default if your frame interpolation is set to 2, it will look 2 frames back, 2 frames forward.

i guess you missed the question

thats why I ask what happen to frame 0 and 100
        -2 -1 0 1 2 used by interpolation to render frame 0
2 GI files are missing in that case

so do i need to render GI prepass +2 frames start and end if interpolation frames is 2 ?

it seems as if you are correct. From what I gather from vlado, those frames will be more blotchy (more flickering) then the ones with full interpolation. So it does makes since to over sample the gi by whatever frames you wish to interpolate.

For those frames, V-Ray will use just those maps that are available. That means that those frames will be slightly more blotchy than the rest.

            Best regards,
            Vlado
