Anyone have these? Some of them look usable. Birches and "trimmed" trees are ridiculous, but even so looks to be still worth the money. Unless someone here has them and says they are junk.

    Onyx trees?

Don't know anything about them... the look pretty good, maybe not enough variety in leaf color.

Although they look like they could be onyx trees. Technically you are not allowed to create onyx trees and then sell them (unless they cut a deal with onyx).

But I could be wrong.. they could have been procedurally modeled by a custom script file or any number of other ways.

But my point being.. for $250 for this library, I would go ahead and spend the extra money and buy onyx tree.. then you can create as many different kinds of trees as you like.. and animate the wind on them.

I already have Onyx. Lots of control and flexibility and all, but too much hassle IMO. Nice to have the control, but can be way too complex to get the results you want.

Yeah... but vray continued development, supported their users, maintained a forum, etc...

Actually, I think I'll make another post looking for people interested in modeling plants for me. If you're interested, watch for it! I'll pay for good plants.

We have bought those and use them regularly. They are very nice.

They look good up close, and also at a distance. One of the best things about them is that they don't use opacity maps, which simplifies things greatly.

I heard from someone in the office (who talked to the guy who made them) that they were created with Houdini. I can double-check that, though....

Could you show some example renderings up close ? I got an acacia from them as demo, but am a little disappointed that the leaves are floating (not attached). For medium distance and for animation they are perfect, but so are all other generators and libraries I have. I just hoped for something like the evermotion collections but more childs in one species so you have a little more choice when putting trees in rows. I also use XFrog, Onyx and NatFX but somehow I keep looking out for ready-made stuff. I'm not sure about this collection though and would like to see some examples. The one tree I got renders way too dark !!

Yes, they are the same. I bought them from VM, and they are easy and fast to render because there are no opac.maps. I had to assign textures (the simple leaves have uv-maps, and these are the same per tree type) and change materials a bit (including color variances textures for GroundWiz/VRayScatter) to get them look better, but now I use them mainly/daily for filling up stuff starting at a moderate distance. This perfectly fits with the plugins and the large-scale work iCube is doing. The best thing about this collection is that all the trees/bushes are somehow regularly shaped, which is good for keeping the focus on the architecture you're presenting. For close-up work these are not good, because leaves are simple primitives and are floating. You better use Onyx or GrowFX for that.

Cool, thanks for the feedback on those! I hope to get these someday, but I guess I'll keep using Onyx...

I thought there was another thread that stated that Onyx was receiving some further development soon...
