  • Plastic Keyboard material

I'm having big issues creating the effect you get on a lot of plasic items like a keyboard. It's the slightly rough surface.

I created a cellular map for the bump but it looks useless.

Has anyone got any ideas the best way to achieve this.

    Thanks in advance.

Very glossy reflections, and a slight speckle as a bump map maybe ?

I tried the glossy reflection but it was too much like a mirror or the bump map had to be put up to 500.

What type of sprckle map do you think?

      Thanks

I should imagine it could be very tricky to create unless you are very very close to the object as any GI blurring or image AA effects will 'knock-out' any fine bumps you would see.

actually very low glossy reflections simulate just that, a very rough surface. you don't need a bump map, vray will take care of that much more efficiently.
if your keyboard was looking like a mirror I guess you had either reflections still too glossy, or a way too reflective shader. maybe both.

Or you don't have Fresnel checked....

Try setting your reflection colour to near white, switch Fresnel on and set your reflection glossiness to 0.6.

and maybe VERY slightly raise the roughness.
