  • PDPlayer Video?

We saw the beta of PDPlayer at Siggraph last year as a company, and I remember it being really great. With the official release of PDPlayer though I would really like help remembering what it does and why I should use it as opposed to After Effects for my compositing (it is a compositor if I remember correctly?). I would love to see a video of its capabilities or a demo version to play with so we can see what it does!

if you longin to support section and go to downloads you can see pdplayer demo, which has been released.
Pdplayer is not a compositing packedge; it is a framechecking software, with some basic compositing abilities to quickly check integridy of your render passes. It also has some other options such as brush tools for client review etc...
Imo its a great program alternative to irridas framecycler, which is not available in x64 bit for windows, which makes a huge difference.

not at all, its really to fill the void that right now its very painful to check HD frames with current available software (or lets say, with reasonably priced currently available software!!)

generally I find pdplayer quite a bit faster when dealing with large frames, such as 2k exrs for example then irridas framecycler.
Its also nice to be able to add/multiply etc your layers onto each other, which irridas can't do.
