  • Vray Dirt

I am trying to use vray dirt on a tiled material. I have the Tile map in both the occluded and unoccluded areas. How can I get the grout lines to produce the dirt effect instead of just the entire object outline? I would to to be able to change the scale of my stacked tiles and continue to have the same effect with the dirt on the grout lines. Any tips that might make this work, I am missing something when I do it.

    Thanks, brian

From what I understand "VRayDirt is a texture map that can be used to simulate a variety of effects, for example dirt around the crevices of an object, or to produce an ambient occlusion pass." so it might not work as you want.

extrude the mesh slightly where you got your tiles.

It might be easier to use a gradient ramp set to box in your tile slot to create the dirt or just hand paint the effect in photoshop. i don't think vraydirt is going to do what you're after. Even if you slice and recess the grout lines the til face won't be affected by the dirt map. here's a quick test I did using a gradient ramp broken up with a little noise.
