First off a general thank you to the generosity of this forum. I have learned a lot!

I have to render a building that will have a glass block facade. I played around with using a tiles map and wondering if anyone had suggestions to make it better. Also curious if there is a way to control the grout color. The file is in max 9 format.

you can download the test file here http://www.pixelplume.com/vray/

    Thanks in advance

Try a subtle noise type bump over the glass to break it up a bit, and you can handle the grout using a VrayBlend material, with an alpha to mask out the grout lines used to blend a grout material over your glass material.

I've just modeled the blocks themselves and arrayed them into the wall. Tends to always be a small enough area covered (or enough of a feature) that it's a viable solution.

I remember some maps floating around here at one point...looked really good. can't remember who gave them away though.

Thanks for the replies. I used Brett's advice and took a stab at a blend material, with bump, etc.

the revised file is here if anyone wants it.

            It was this material:

                Very Nice

Is this under construction? Where will it be located? Nice to see your work. Met yopu at the last 3dsNYC.
