  • Backlit Signage

I am trying to simulate the type of signage as illustrated in the attached photo. Bascially, a solid white perspex panel with text which is lit from behind. How would I create this effect?

A blend Material Between a VrayLight Material and A regular Vray material with the reflections set up and then blend the amount until you get the right look

It's not like polycount is a huge issue these days...

Why not just model it like it's constructed? Boolean out the text, then place colored objects within or behind the new "holes". Make them self illuminated and reflective. This would give the most realistic result.

Otherwise, just give your text a zero thickness and a material as described above and set it right on top of your signband.

I usually use VRay2Sided mat for this. Works like a charm. Put your Vray lights behind it just like in real life there will be lights behind.
