Do people use it, and how do you set its quality? What is it for...since there is a modifier as well.

It's useful if you want to use multiple displacement maps on one object using Mat ID's and a Multi-Sub Mat. Quality is controlled two ways, first is through the global displacement settings in the render rollout, height can be controlled with the map amount spinner though it is not very precise. The better method is to apply a vraydisplacement modifier set to 3D Disp and checking the us obj mat setting, then you have precise control over the amount and quality of the displacement through the modifier.Last edited by RErender; 18-12-2008, 10:17 PM.
