  • Help with Motion Blur w/ VRayPhysicalCamera

    Hello,

I can't make motion blur work with the VRayPhysicalCamera

It works alright using a standard cam and activating it in the V-Ray:: Camera rollout ... but I can't get it to work using a PhysCam ... I activated it in the Sampling area ... what else needs to be activated to make it work? I tried adjusting the shutter speed, but nothing happens. Help!

nothing else actually. tick motion blur and that's it, it should work. what's the shutter speed value you're rendering with?

Make sure you are also using a movie camera type.

      Best regards,

I only act like I know everything, Rogers.

        Thanks for the reply rivoli

So I got it to work ... but .... using some exagerated settings. The first image has a shutter speed of 10, and f-number 50. The second image has a shutter speed of 2.0 and an f-number of 100

I guess it depends on the speed of the object to generate the blur, unfortunately the PhysCam does not have all the controls available in the V-Ray:: Camera rollout, which one can set the Duration (frames). Might be easier for what I'm after to use a regular camera in this case.

Thanks for the reply, I will try it out using the movie camera type to see what comes out now.

Well it seems that my main problem was the speed of the moving object
Created a new object moving a lot faster and it is easy to motion blur it. Here it is using the movie camera, the original still won't blur, but the new faster object blurs.

            Thanks for the help!

glad you sorted it. as vlado says, if the camera is moving or you're rendering an animation you may want to try a movie camera. having to do with shutter angle instead of speed, might be not really intuitive though.

Actually it's a still image I am working on, there is a fan I wanted to motion blur. Yep, I think the shutter speed might be easier to visualize. Now I am just trying to speed up the fan blade rotation
