  • Vray material IOReflection map

    Hi guys,

If I drop a greyscale texture map into the IOR (reflection) map channel (with fresnel lock off obviously), which greyscale values (from 0-255) equate to what IOR values ?

    Im assuming 0 -255RGB = 0 -100 IOR ??

    Cheers

    Steve

Ok, ive checked and the IRO does indeed go up to 100.

So on that basis, the rgb value for 1.6IOR is 4RGB.

That means a metal with a IOR value of 12 is 30RGB.

    Ok cool

The IOR map is a multiplier for the normal IOR, so it will go from 0 where the map is black to the user-specified IOR where the map is white.
