DOF setup

I am trying to set this up for a scene.
From my understanding it should be possible to control which part of the imagine is in focus by setting the focus distance...right?

Well when i turn on Specify focus and then adjust the Focus distance, it has a zoom effect.

What part am I missing?

Hi Thanks for the link and although i think i will find it useful, i do understand the workings of DOF.

I am just having a problem setting it with the VRay camera. Because changing the focus distance has the effect of zooming in or out. Where when one normal focus on different objects with a real camera it does not change the zoom factor of the lens.

Actually, focusing does change the magnification in a real camera too, but I agree that it seems a bit too strong in Vray. Maybe we just get used to the way Max cameras work. Anyway, I would love to have them act more like a Max camera and not do that - it's a real pain for me too.
