  • optimizing motionblur render

    Hi everyone

Is there a way to optimize motionblur in Vray so you still get the effect with a decent look, but so it doesn't take 4 weeks to render anything :/ its so sad that you have to give up this great looking effect because you simple can't use it with a normal deadline.

anyone found a magic middle way ?

    thank in advance.

Well I only know you need to use local object moblur sampling properties more often. To cut subdivs.
I just can't seem to trust myself
So what chance does that leave, for anyone else?

hmm alright... but its "2" at default it seems... so you would try putting it at "1" ?

I tried lowering the default "6" to "3" on the camera and the default "4" to "2" in the render settings, it sure did something, but not enough and it didnt look good enough to even be used then... dilemma... :P

Maybe some dmc settings + light settingzz etc.

i can suggest to seek alternative methods of motion blur, like reel smart vectors or other velocity passes.

            Real Smart Motion Blur

Trying to render one frame that has an object in motion blurred.. no problem. An entire animation.. that's a problem.

As suggested.. Doing it in post is probably the best bet. There is a way to do it in after effects without any kind of plug in, but it's pretty slow. Faster than rendering it in max, but still slow.

Real Smart Motion Blur, I think, is like a 150 dollar plug in for AE. It seems to do the trick. It can either analyze the footage automatically and sort of "fake" a motion blur to it or you can render a motion vector element and Real Smart can use that to add the blur.
