  • SP3 question about Vray meshlights.

I finally got a chance to fire up SP3 last night. Really cool new stuff.

I few questions came to mind during my testing.

I was using a thin torus as a light source and was wondering if turning on turbo smooth on the meshlight (to make the light more round) effects the performance? Is having more polygons on the mesh affecting the amount of rays it casts?

Also, it seems as though the meshlight casts its own shadow. Is this correct?

I'll post pictures of what I mean when I get home.

    Thanks.

The number of triangles in the mesh does not affect the amount of rays that are cast for the light. It affects the performance, but in other ways.

This is correct, yes. The mesh light behaves exactly like a self-illuminated object.
