  • Environment fog and alpha

I think this has come up before, so I apologize for asking again but I could not find the thread.

Is there a way to exclude the new VrayEnvironment fog from the alpha? I don't want to have to render this set of images twice if I can avoid it, but obviously that is an option.

    Thanks in advance,

Another question related to the Environment fog: is there any way to exclude it from camera? Sounds kind of dumb perhaps, but I'm rendering a set of passes for various parts, and I need the fog for the lighting/reflections on those, but it's wasting a lot of time rendering redundant background fog over and over.

    Thanks in advance!

from my understanding, as the fog is an "atmospheric" its not possible to have it excluded from the alpha.
What I have found best to do is use the VRayAtmosphere render element and do a base render without the fog and a render with the fog (with all objects having a flat black material and then composite the fog on top of the base render.

I will give that a try. Not sure if it will do the trick in this case though, because it really changes the quality of the light and reflections on the objects when the fog is on.

        Thanks in any case.
