  • Matte pass shadow issue

    Hi,

Attached is an image showing what I am after.

It is a patch\fix render, so most objects are Matte with no shadows. I have the landscape vray property settings as shown, to pick up the shadows of a canopy, but what I'm trying to loose is the other shadows which are already in the original render.

If I turn off cast shadows in their normal max object properties obviously the lighting changes.

Its like I want to control which objects the landscape receives its shadows from, but I dont know of a way of doing that.

Or does anyone know of another approach or combination of settings or passes to do this?

    Cheers
    Nick

There are two options in the V-Ray object settings and the material wrapper that may help you.

One is the "Shadows" option itself - it controls whether a matte object will show the shadows or not.

The other is the "No GI on other mattes" which causes a matte object's shadows to affect other matte objects or not.

    Best regards,
    Vlado
