  • Vray proxy to mesh script

    Hi,

Sorry if this has done the rounds already, but all the links I've found to it say broken link..has anyone got a working link to this script.

It would be a lifesaver right now!

    Thanks a lot

In V-Ray 1.5 SP3, there is a button in the VRayProxy interface to bring it back as an editable mesh.

Thanks Vlado, But I tried this without success.

A couple of times it will convert it to an etditable mesh, but exactly as the proxy displays in the viewport - so lots of missing faces.

But most times when I press it, it just pauses for a while and then when it comes back to life I just have the same proxy as before.

Is this just not working as it should?

      Cheers

It places the newly created mesh at the coordinate system origin (0,0,0), so if you are looking at some other place in the scene, you may not see it.

ah ok. I get a mesh now, however it doesnt seem to keep the scale of them, even aligning and matching all transform, the scale is very different.

I have a large scene created by someone else and the scales of all all the different trees are something different too.

I was kind of hoping they would appear with the exact same transforms, as I need to do a scanline channel of them (they were killing render times so I had to remove them from people and model amend passes).

I have quite a job on now to match this many trees manually, if this is the only way currently possible??

          Cheers

Why can't you create the channel in vray? If you don't use GI it should be about as fast as scanline, if there is a lot of them scanline would probably choke anyways.

              Thanks Eric,

I usually find scanline quicker when it comes to this last minute channel rush (when its just normal, simple-ish geometry), but I think you're right in this case. Having cranked lots of settings down and done some tests, I should have enough time to get all the frames out tonight.

              Vray it is.

              Cheers
