  • Irradiance map viewer (black samples)

I have a night scene wich is captured by a vrayCam with very low shutter settings. It has a lot of brighter spots in the GI solution

When I open the IRmap. The samples show black except for a door wich has a vraylight in the opening.

Is my scene too dark wich causes the noise? (I've read that somewhere)
Should I crank up the lights and squeeze the shutter?

    thx

V-Ray generally takes the camera exposure into account so it does not matter that the scene is dark overall - if it looks ok in the VFB, it should be fine.

As for the spots, they may be due to different things, perhaps you can show an image of what you get?

Maybe an idea for an exposure slider in the IM viewer?

Here's my example. The scene does have some errors wich I fixed in my current test. This was with Irradiance at medium animation setting and lightcache with 1600 subdiv. The codec causes flickering. It's not in the renders

My current render is with very low settings and
      Hsphere: 120
      interp. samples 40
      Lightcache 800 subdivs

this seems to smooth things out but I guess I'm losing somewhat detail here and there.
