Hello,

I just purchased a model containing all lighting so I could study the artist's techniques. When I tried to open it in 3ds Max 9, I got a vray ies light.dlo error/dialogue box. When I click "OPEN" an error message popped up stating that it cannot open the file.

Any help would be appreciated.

which build of vray are you using? He might be using a vray light type that isn't in your version?

I just looked at 1.5 Build 3's new features and saw that; "Mesh-based lights, V-Ray light material as direct light" are new to Build 3. Do either allow for lights requiring VRAYLIGHT2009.dlo to be used or was ies lights feature included with Build 2?

Mesh-based lights are implemented in the base V-Ray plugin (vrender2009.dlr); the V-Ray IES light is in a plugin called "vrayieslight2009.dlo". V-Ray does not have a component named "vraylight2009.dlo".

Thank you Vlado. I guess my old original version 1.5 does not support "vrayieslight2009.dlo"? I guess it's time to upgrade to 1.5 SP3.

I think they were added in SP2 last year.
