  • Extremely slow render times after texture changed

Hello all, I've run into a problem I have never ever experienced and it is driving me crazy. I have a scene which I have rendered out before many times however our client has asked to changed the material on the floor. done... but now when it gets to the floor and trys to render it just sits there cpu's maxed out chugging away with the buckets not moving ....

i first turned off the glossies and reflections on the material thinking it was that... no luck
i then placed a blank material on the floor... it rendered perfectly fine
im using very low low settings lc and irmap and low res to just crank out quick test for lighting ..
ive even tried the different AA settings but no luck ... the texture is only 1200x1200 of a granite...

anyone have any idea what could be going on ? I do have 130 max standard lights
my system is a dual dual core xeons with 3gb switch...

any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

    Cheers

    Ryan

Which 3ds Max version is this? What is the type of the texture? Do you have the 3ds Max bitmap pager enabled or disabled?

    Best regards,

      Hi Vlado,

Its Max design 2009 with vray sp2 installed. The file worked finebefore with a differnet texture. The jpg for the texture is only about 1.5 megs 2100x2100 px now and it is a texture of granite. I ended up increasing the resolution just to get some extra detail out of it. Should I be using the bitmap pager? I've never used it.

      Kind Regards

      Ryan

PS. Just realised i posted in the wrong place in the forums sorry
