  • Dreamscape v2 & Vray

Roy had asked this but the thread is now in the archive section so i'll do a quick reply here.

i had done a few quick tests in the last few weeks and everything between DS and Vray seems to be working well. even DS' daylight control works in Vray. i'm quite impressed that Vlado got this to work. isn't he just amazing? this one crashes Brazil and i've submitted to the fishes for them to fix.

hope this helps a bit. hopefully when i'm not too busy, i'll do a few more tests.

    cheers,
    Rom

Well, Kresimir was very supportive, providing me with a build of Dreamscape and also running a few tests to find out where the problems are.

    Best regards,
    Vlado

But has anybody tried animations? Dreamscape 2.0 crashes max every single time I render a range of frames with VRay.

Maybe you guys could try this to see if it's just me:
        1) Create a new max scene
        2) Put a Dreamscape sun in it
        3) Put a Dreamscape environment in it (don't even bother with clouds)
        4) Current renderer = latest VRay advanced
        5) Don't even turn on GI
        6) Render a range of frames from a camera or just the perspective viewport. After a few frames (anywhere from 2 to 8 ), I get a DS error (something about TheSky\explode.cpp) which will crash max and leave you looking at the desktop and a VRay exception error message.

Hopefully it's just something wonky with my setup.

          Valdo,
Just curious..we are looking at buying Dreamscape.

Are you testing with Dreamscape 2.0 or 3.0? Have you had any luck testing with the build you have?

          Best regards,

          Corey

            Didn't know there was 3.0; I have Dreamscape 2.0 here I think.

            Best regards,
            Vlado
