It seems that every scene I start I try using an HDRI, but each time I can't get anything to look good so I abandon the thought. Is it possible to zoom out an hdri? When I use an hdri, any library, my building is tiny amongst the background.

I think you need to change your type and mapping of the hdr image.
Change the type from "Texture" to "Environment" and typically the image will be "Spherical" so change to that from the default "Screen".
The exposure can vary greatly, so be prepared for a little trial and error if there is no info supplied with the file.

I have never tried using an HDRI as a bitmap, but it does seem to work. How to you rotate your HDRI this way? Also what is the trick to display the HDRI in the viewport properly?Last edited by glorybound; 21-05-2009, 11:50 AM.Bobby Parker

Hi
My question is what kinda of scenes are you trying to light with an hdri ?

I am trying to light an exterior scene. The lighting and reflection part is always successful. I have issues using the HDRI for the background. I have to use something like 12 mm file gate and zoom way in to get anything close.Bobby Parker
