  • more than one vray-env-fog?

wonderfull clouds, thanks a lot for this marvelous feature, but:

when creating more than one "cloudsystem" (gizmo+effect) the clouds seam to brighten each other up to pure white.

tried several combinations with scatter gi on/off, use/unuse lights, fog color, doesn´t help.
fog emmission is pure black, vray sun/sky/physicalcam,

    am i missing any trick?

You can only use one per scene but vlado has promised that it will be resolved in the next update.

One per scene....i've done one with 166 in one scene. I'm in the process right now f scripting a solution to create the gizmos and stuff to more easily set up my scenes with even more vray fog effects.

        sorry - my mistake.

You can use more than one but multiple VRayEnvironmentFog will not blend together, they just lay on top of each other.

great to hear, but any idea what might cause the bright-white clouds when having more than two of them?
i also tried fog-color/fog-emission-colors from black to white, but it also didn´t help. maybe using another vraysun? the gizmos of course have no object properties like exclude/cast/receive from gi

If it happens where two gizmos crossover....that sounds like they VRay fogs are additive. Not sure if this can be changed. Probably best to ask Vlado.

no, the gizmos are separate from each other

even when one of them is very small (one gizmo filling the whole sky high above, another making a little foggy cloud down the valley ....).

there is also no difference when using the two gizmos within one vrayfogeffect or when using two separate fog effects with one single gizmo each.

still don´t understand the vray environment fog:

when having the camera standing "inside" an "global" vrayenvironmentfog (camera-z lower than fog-height) the clouds created by an second vrayfog (gizmo) just dissapier. when lowering the fog the clouds are visible again.

it seems changing the order of the atmosphere effect helps (first fog, then clouds)

besides i still can´t solve the problem of fogs brightening up each other.
                any helping hand?

                    oops, did´t see that one!
but Dwayne, how did you manage blending of fogs gizmos?

                        Matthias,

Mine were separate also...my test turned out pretty cool...it just takes a long time to setup. This sis mostly due to the fact that i am not a great maxscripter....because I'm sure it would only take about 20 lines of code for what I'm doing. I essentially took a sequence of medical images...from an MRI scan and layered them up in 3d using a gizmo for each slice. Then once you render it you get a volumetric view of the bones, tissue etc. Like i said though..i still have a ways to go for setup and the way that it looks. I want to get my hands on some colour scans...that would be cool! I'll try and post a couple shots of my test if i can later.
