  • Vray Licence across VPN

Is it possible to set up a Vray licence server and access it through a VPN (router to router VPN)?

If so what special measures must I take at each end (opening up ports, virtual servers, ?dmz)

Saves a lot of wear and tear on my dongle. (precious thing that it is)

Hamachi is a great program to establish a VPN

but I already have a router to router VPN

        is hamachi better than this?

          What i did

This is what we do. We have router that we dial in with openvpn. and the home/away machines have their vray set to the ip of the dongle machine, that's is. I am still waiting for a Linux dongle server, that would eliminate the energy hungry machine at the end of the line I don't see any difference to net-2-net or a roadwarrior setup. Hamachi is a very easy solution for that as well.

          hope it helps

Hamachi works great for me - highly recommended. Also just handy for remote desktop, none of the port forwarding lark needed.

Only bad thing about license over vpn I'd say is it can sometimes be slow to get materials in the material editor - it must check for a license fairly often, and that can sometimes be a bit of a pain.

                Great!!

Can I have a small explanation (like a step by step) of how it work please ?

                Thanks a lot

install Hamachi on the remote and local Pcs.

Then make sure the they are all connected to the same network via Hamachi - which is dead easy, all it is is making sure all machines have the same login and password which you assign.

Then hamachi will auto assign IP numbers to all computers running Hamachi (within your Hamachi network), you can then simply point the Vray License to the computer than has the dongle on it.

Im always using Vray remotly from the office computer which is 6 miles away, its easy

Has anyone used hamachi for DR? I'd love to have it use my home computer in addition to my nodes...
