  • Project Folders and DR

My apologies if this has been covered. I did my search, but no couldn't find anything about my specific problem.

Here's what's happening. We have a large farm (100+ comps) and three offices. Occasionally we will be working on projects with other offices who have their own servers. For this case, project folders work wonderfully. Just set the folder with the little script, and maps and everything re-path fine. The problem I can't seem to figure out is how to get DR to work with project folders. None of the slaves pick anything up, and I'm almost certain its because they don't have the same project folder. It seems a bit ridiculous to go to each slave, open up max, and set the project folder every time i want to use DR. Either that or set all the paths to absolute before I render.

Is this a known problem, and is there a workaround/solution that I haven't found?

You should be able to use the asset tracker to convert the bitmap paths to absolute or UNC paths before submitting the scene.

I've made a note to see if we can transfer the project folder setting with the DR scene too.

    Best regards,
    Vlado
I only act like I know everything, Rogers.

I hope they can be transferred at some point. I have really enjoyed the usefulness of both DR and the project folders, but not being able to use them at the same time is a bit frustrating.

      Thanks Vlado
