I was getting this problem too. It was because I was missing the latest VC CRT. The ones Bercon linked to earlier in this thread are now actually out of date. You can download the latest here:

    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...2-9112bab119c2

    This fixed it for me.

    Bercon,

It looks like MS updated the VS CRT to 8.0.50727.4053 as part of a recent security update (more info here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/973544). Your compiler must have gotten the update in between compiling this version and the last.

Because I didn't feel like starting a new thread for this here is the new 1.12 version:

          1.12
          - Feature: When using a mesh as a source object and Use Particle Size is checked it takes account soft selection (0..1) multiplied by Radius
          - Bug fix: Using a mesh as a source object with motion blur on doesn't crash any more

I was reading about the solution to the motion blur problem in a different thread and it prompted me to do this silly little test animation. Thought I'd share it though it is pretty pointless.

            Download the .mov file here.

EDIT: And of course, many, many thanks for this very useful tool.

using max 2009 x64 and vray sp5 and metaballs 1.12. there seems to be a memory leak or something. ive got my particles cached and rendering an animation and watching the memory usage go up and up and up each frame, i save my file and close max and reopen max and start back where i left off and memory is back down. not sure where the leak would be between particles, vray or metaballs
