  • Can you network redner irradiance maps?

    Hi... been away for a while not using Vray.... last time i was hanging about there was talk of a newer version of Vray supporting DR rendering of irradiance maps?

    Is this now possible? I have always liked to use baked irradiance maps for animating camera moves and stuff with no noise crawling... but as far as I know you need to render the map all on a single system...

    Is there a way to usr DR or backburner or whatever so irradiance maps can be renderd across multitude systems?

    Thanks in advance

    Yes Vray can now render Irradiance maps over DR or BB, I thought it always could?

    Multi frame incremental irradiance maps need to be done with DR not bb

    but animations with moving objects and therefore using the prepass / final ir map mode with time interpolated irradiance can be either bb or dr. (this is an entirly new feature your going to love if you have moving objects and cameras)

    Unless you accidently mean light cache which is still not networkable.

        <bump>

        where can i find information on this new baking method for animating objecxts though a scene rather than a camera though a set?

        Not as far as I understood it... if you were doing a single frame render It seamed to me that the IR Map was calculated on each render slave locally. So if you were doing a animation using backburnner was the way to go. Then i started getting into using saved IR map files... so I am wondering if you can say render you 100 frame animation every 10 frames to build a incremental / merged IR Map file to be loaded at render time.. BUT as far as I knew (and acording ot teh GnomonWorkshop vray dvd I have.. this can not be rendered across the network you have to get a single system to calculate the entire IR MAP file.. so i am wondering if you can now network render these.
