  • first time putting vray on multiple machines

I am trying to put Vray on all my machines so that I can work on a file on multiple machines. If I understand right all I need to do is hit cancel each time Vray wants to be authorized and it should be good to go.
Everything works as above, but the renders look vastly different, ther must be something really basic that I am missing, no?

    thanks for the help

Are you using network rendering? unauthorized rendering is only supported in slave mode

not net rendering, is that the problem?

I just have the un-authorized plugs running (hitting cancel each time the auth box comes up). Sounds like this is wrong.Pardon my ignorance, but what is "slave mode"

You'll have to set up network rendering, if you are using Max5 it is called "backburner" in 4 or less it was just called "manager" you run this and also the rendering servers on each other box. it's pretty easy to set up you just need them networked with tc/ip. It is covered in the online help pretty well. You cannot open a normal session with a non-authorized V-Ray and render

          thanks much

right, makes sense. I was hoping you could open a scene as long as you did not "touch" anything relating to vray (lights, materials etc) and just render.
I can see where that would be difficult with a renderer

          thanks again
