  • Single Frame Networkflickering

Hi, I am rendering a sequenz on two machines in Single Frame mode.
But one PC renders the frames slightly different to the other.
It looks a bit more sharp.
I used the normal backburner netrenderer. Started Mangager and Server one the authorized Vray PC and just the Server on the other one.
Is that all to do normal networkrendering? No DR or anything...

Hope to get help soon, movie must be rendered till Wednesday.

    Thanks Schnupps

I am working with the latest version of vray, on both are the same plugins installed.

Yes, rendering with GI. But ehrn I render just on one PC, there is no flickering. And in single frame the irradiance map is new computed at every frame, there should not be a difference with the two PC´s, or not?

flickering issues on Single Frame imap

mmm every test I've done with single map imap has some sort of flickering in the GI (read i use as low as possible hsubdivs)...if i understand it correctly this will diminish the higher you push the hsubdivs, along with pushing render times higher.

I have completed a number of animations using the nth frame method rendered on a network with varying processor types and no variation in the resulting frames.

double check you have exactly the same vray installs, ie libmmd.dll etc (i know you said you have but stranger things have happened)

is there any reason why you chose not to use the nth method? moving objects?

Also, if one is an AMD and the other a p4 make sure you are not using the sse drivers, this is a documented issue with Max

I got moving objects and an animated light, so single frame seems to be the only solution. And as I wrote, one PC rendering the frames is alright, but not both. You can see clearly which PC rendered which frame.
And there are both amd´s. Only difference is that on one is XP, one the other one WIn2000, but this should not make a differnece?
Double checked all the installed vray files and other PlugIns

we had a modeler here change the units, and all the renders came out different.
try replacing the 3dsmax.ini in the root folder
if there is a scale issue, this will fix it.

hmm.. sounded well, but that wasn´t the problem either.
Thanks to all of you so far.

I looks a bit as both machines´t are rendering the frames with different GI settings, but this can´t be or?
I hope somebody can still help me....

                    Here is the clip http://www.rebusmedia.de/Vray-test.html
                    (divX503)

OK, now I got the next problem, it even starts to flicker when I render just on one PC. But exact in the same scene, whith the same settings which rendered alright before.
I put up the movie, that shows all the problems.
In the beginning it was just one PC rendering, and it looks good enough.
Then it starts flickering, that´s when the other PC in the network joined.
After the cut it is just one PC again, the one which rendered alright in the beginning.

                    Settings for all renderings were:
                    AA- Simple two level
                    High Animation, no secondary bounces
                    Single Frame
the rest is left to default.
                    One HDRI, one Direct light

Please Help, movie must be finished on Wednesday, and right now I can´t render anything proper at all.

                    Thanks so far

by the way, i get always a warning: HDRI Map locked, not loading.
But as you can see, it is loading and rendering.

                        nice animation...

have you tried ditching the HDRI map....as a test....just render with a single colour and test a small range of frames...?

I´m pritty sure I tried this, I tried about anything the last days. This is my first VRay Animation. Unfortunately experimenting with GI animations is very slow thing to do...

And as you see it worked for about 2 seconds, and the warnings came there as well.
Hope a chaotic member is having a look at this soon. Maybe the bug is just me.

I agree with Moose looks like the hdri environment giving you problems, I like to use the splutter fish loader in the environment allowing me to blur the hdri , a blurred hdri will get rid of the noise.

To me this looks like AA undersampling changing drastically between the frames.

But since you are using simple two level I am really puzzled...
