  • Blend + Wrapper = Alpha ?

    posted by Michael Watkins
    archived on 29.4.2003

Its been stated over and over again how much faster vray material opacity is over standard material opacity. Especially where GI is involved. However there are compaints about the alpha channel with vray materials. Maybe the next version wil have this fixed. But untill then here is a work around
    Use a Blend material
In the mask slot is where the opacity map should go.
the color of the leaves goes in one slot
and put a vray material wrapper into the other slot using it as a shadow matte option. I havent personally tested it but egz has and said it works
I've tried this solution but no alpha at the end... I've tried to modify the alpha contribution (material wrapper Matte setting) but no effect...

I would be interested by advices or solutions since I'm stuck here. Thanks !

Surprising. I've got a matte object with only the env color visible where the wrapper is, making holes in every objects situated behind...

And, of course, the fog is still an issue (but it's an habit with alpha)...
