  • IES web distribution

am I right in finding that vray has no way to actually show you the web distribution in the viewport or to differentiate between linear and point sources? I can associate an IES file using vrayies but without knowing the testing orientation with respect to my own fixture application, seems the only way to verify proper orientation is trial and error. Perhaps the targeted option has some bearing but not sure what the assumptions are to govern the axis.
I looked here but the description is rather vague:

One way to do it would be use a 3ds Max photometric light, adjust that one as needed, and then align the VRayIES light to it.

    Best regards,
    Vlado
I only act like I know everything, Rogers.
