  • NVidia Performance Driver for Max2010

Has anybody tried to install the new performance driver for Max2010 already ? If installed in Max2010 Design it can not find a valid Max2010 installation !!!

If installer does not detect Design, just extract by rightclicking and copy the *.DRV to your Max root !!

              Is this driver?

              I'll try it right now

Meh ... just tested on a scene and crashes consistently on load, and performance doesn't seem to increase much in a simple testing scene (10.000 cube array).

Anyone got better luck with it?

                  how many polys?
in the past that kind of driver started working better with a very high number of polys

Around 120.000, but what kills it is the number of objects. If I make a single object with 120.000 faces it runs pretty smoothly.

not too much, give it a try with some millions polys

Yes, I guess that with 1M polys I'd see a difference, but the real problem is that, with the performance drivers, MAX crashes when loading a typical interior scene. It seems to halt the computer while loading the textures and then I get a MAX error. If I roll back to the regular D3D drivers it loads fine.

Hey, thanks for the pointer : I had stopped waiting for this release and thought that nvidia would discontinue this driver, as the d3d performance is very satisfying.

Anyways, I downloaded this driver and started testing it and it works flawlessly for the moment : no crashes ; but no speed improvement neither. Frankly for the moment I really don"t see any difference.

Crashes all my scenes. And it still happens if I roll back the install.

                            Great day today...
