  • VRay Mtl- Use irradiance map option [OFF] QMC Parameters

    http://www.spot3d.com/vray/help/150S...ial_params.htm

    VRAY MATERIAL OPTIONS

Use irradiance map - if this is true, the irradiance map will be used to approximate diffuse indirect illumination for the material. If this is off, brute force GI will be used. You can use this for objects in the scene which have small details and are not approximated very well by the irradiance map

    Hi All,

When turning this option off, the renderer defaults back to DMC as stated on the Help files above but what controls the DMC settings other than the Default DMC settings??? I have left my DMC settings at default but the brute-force GI seems to be using far higher settings than the default, as it takes forever to render & comes out much smoother than you would expect with the default settings.

Will this option also not use the light cache as well ????
[If you are using LC- first bounce & IRRADIANCE - second bounces]
    Does it disregard both???
It seems to be really, really slow....just like using Brute force for first & second bounces.

Any help understanding this a bit more would be great!

    Thanks

For consistency, it uses the same number of subdivs as specified in the irradiance map "Hemispheric subdivs" parameter.

    Best regards,
