  • Distribute Rendering - Can't connecto to host

    hi

since few days I've this problem:

    System:
    PC01 - PC02 - PC03: all of them Windows XP 64bit + 3dsmax 2010 + Vray

From PC01 I start a distribute rendering, for PC02 on the log I can read this message: "could not connect to host 192.168.0.3. No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it"
and it doesn't partecipate to the render process.

I really don't understand the reason why. It has same configuration as other machines and I've installed nothing on it.

I can correctly connect to the PC02 throught the lan, if I click "Resolve Servers" under the "Distribute Rendering" settings it is correctly found.

If I take a look to the PC02 desktop I can see that the VRaySpawner icon on bottom right is active, but I can notice a strange thing: on the main windows bar if the VRaySpawner is activated should appear a new 3dsmax instance; in PC02 it appears correctly, but just for few seconds, then it disappears, and reappears again and so on.. while on the other machine it remains over there.

Which could be the problem? How can I solve?
I've yet tried to uninstall and reinstall vray.

    Thank you very much.

Do you have any kind of firewall running?

there's no firewall installed, PCs are not connected to internet and the windows firewall is disabled.

I don't know if it could help, but as you can see it exectue continually the vraydummy2010.max

        I don't understand why.

So basically it's looking like the Vray Server Max Scene does not continue to run, is shutting down, and is restarting itself continually?

Hmmm...it's not something I've seen before, but my experience with DR is somewhat limited.

          Anyone else have an idea?

Is it a fresh clean Max install.. would you have something in there, like missing pluging, that could prevent Max from opening proprely?

Without sending any job to DR, when you look at the toolbar when you launch Vray Spawner.. ( on the slave computer) does max opens and shut down all the time?

Yes the license server is set correctly.

I think I've found the problem:

As I said I'm quite meticulous to check continuously my PCs configuration, I've a list of all softwares installed on all of them, I keep the same configuration and so on.

In this case what make the Vray Spawner not work correctly, for me is the software "Vue".

I've installed full Vue 7.5 PLE software on 2 PCs and just the Vue Render Node application on other 2 PCs; the VraySpawner doesn't work where Vue is installed full.

Even if I unistall completely Vue full installation and I delete manually every track of the softwrae, the Vray Spawner doesn't work anyway.
Personally I don't understand why but this kind of Vue installation is the only difference between these 4 PCs, the rest is exactly the same (hardware and software).

I've installed the full Vue version on the 2 Slave Machines 'cause I didn't know vue, and I didn't know if it needs a full installation to make the distribute render to work correctly.

Now that I know my advice is to not install the vue full installation on the slave machines, just the render node software; it will work correctly with VraySpawner too.

Thank you very much for your support, I think I'll solve the problem formatting and reinstalling softwares on the two machines.

                Bye.
