  • BIG, BIG TROUBLE...

I've calculated te irradiance map for many frames (last version).
Now I render the scene but, during transform vertices, all the rendering process shut down!
I opened the scene as stand-alone, and also shut down...

    HELP!

Opening an oid Max file I've been able to use the irr map, but is much noised (as I used very low settings)...
    don't know what to do!

Probably not your problem, but a while back I had a file do this when I imported the same object (autocad linework) twice with the same name after that it took forever to "prepare vertices" I deleted one of them but still got some messages from Max concerning a null object. I then deleted the other and everyting was allright.

        It's a BIG problem...
I have many, mant object in the scene: if I normally render the scene (with GI) all works well. If I calculate all the irr map for the camera animation, the rendering sht down durin transforming vertices.
I already collapsed all the objects, but nothing change!!!
        (and it's very late!)

Also, If I render a single frame, save the map, and net render the same frame, ... all works...

            ...and also:

            - Using the irr map of all the anim, 3dsmax shut down during the 'transform vertices' process.

            - Using the irr map of the single frame, I can't see 'transform vertices', and the render goes on to 'preparing objects' and all works.

are you using the "c" or "d" build ? i had the same problems with my scenes when i switched to the "d" version. with the "u" build everything was okay. but i can´t open the scene with the "u" build again. i have even the same problem wehen i´m using an older version of the file.

Daniele, you can try to send me the scene to vray@chaosgroup.com so that I can take a look at what's wrong.

                  Best regards,
                  Vlado

i am now having a similar problem with my network rendering.

i hangs for a long time at the transform vertices phase, then it crashes. in a previous version of the scene, network rendering could process the scene, but then would crash the second it started rendering the image.

i have posted the vraylog.txt for this crash.

                    http://www.proces2.com/vray/VRayLog052503_1.txt

i will gladly send you the files. let me know if that will help and i can tell you where to download them from.

and now i can't render AT ALL! even in stand-alone (not network rendering), i stalls during transform vertices and crashes.

i was rendering this scene without a problem - then i tried network rendering - didn't work - now i am going back to stand-alone rendering - and now its not working either.

i keep get the bug where the adv. irrad. says the map has 0 samples, and 0 bytes. its a 50MB irrad. map, and i can't get the program to recognize it.
i've tried closing and reopening the render scene window, but that is not doing it this time.

i am just about in the same dire situation as daniele, if i can't get this to render at all.

Good news: Vlado seems to have solved the problem and will post a new build very soon.
