  • VrayFur Mapping?

    Hi!

Is it possible to add mapping cordinates to VrayFur to make a colorshift or color fade from root to tip?

Can Vrayfur be converted to mesh?

Yes, there is an option in VRayFur, "Generate W coordinate"; if you turn it off, you can use a gradient texture mapped along the W texture axis to get what you need.

      Thanks Vlado!

      Works perfect!

However I can't figure out what the mapping settings should be if I want to make a material like this: http://specialtygrowers.net/SG2007/i...ce%20Dance.jpg

This is not be possible right now, as the hairs do not have a specific orientation in space; they are not "blades", but more like cylinders.

        Best regards,

Please elaborate. I cannot seem to get a colour change from root to tip.

<I rotated the Gradient 90 degrees in the W axis and that seems to have worked. At 150mm, the transition from dark green at the bottom to light green at the tip is smooth. However, at 75mm long, the transition from dark green through mid green to light green is abrupt. Any ideas why this might be?>

            These images show the problem.

Just to revive an old thread here:

I've gotten the gradient to work easily, but I was wondering if bitmap WU mapping will be supported in the future?

The WU mapping is working fine.
What effect are you trying to achieve?

Trying to make a rug, and i want to have a bitmap as a bump running along the length of the fur, like so:

A gradient ramp map works fine when i set it to WU mapping, but when i set a bitmap (texture or bump) to WU and apply it to the vrayfur object, i do not get the result i expected. I've heard that this is not possible as of now?

I'm afraid this will not be possible with VRayFur. As Vlado mentioned earlier
the hairs do not have a specific orientation in space

Well, you can always use Hair&Fur to generate actual cylindrical geometry.

                      Best regards,
